Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and StackJive, LLC for using CommandChain. They are written to be read, not skimmed past: the parts most people ask about are payment and refunds (section 6), what happens to your content (section 7), and how to close your account (section 10).

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

CommandChain is provided by StackJive, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("StackJive", "we", "us").

These terms cover the CommandChain website, the signed-in CommandChain application, the CommandChain app you install on your own computer, preview links we serve, and any related services we provide (together, "the Service").

By creating an account, installing the CommandChain app, or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" means that organization as well.

2. What the Service does

CommandChain lets you watch, answer and approve coding agents that run on your own computer, from your phone or a browser. The agents it works with today are Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode and Cursor ("Agents"). We may add or remove supported Agents over time.

The CommandChain app runs on your computer, as your user account, and starts the Agents you choose in the folders you choose. The hosted part of the Service relays your messages, approvals and the Agent's output between your computer and your devices, keeps your account, machines, devices, notes and session records, and serves preview links.

CommandChain does not make, operate or control any Agent. Each Agent is a separate product from a separate company, used under that company's own terms and your own sign-in or subscription with them.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

You create an account with an email address you control and a password, and you confirm the address with a code we email you. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done through your account. Tell us at once if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

One person may hold one account. You may not share an account, sell it, or transfer it without our written consent.

We may refuse, suspend or close accounts that break these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used for abuse or fraud.

4. Your computer, your Agents, your responsibility

The Service controls software that runs on hardware you own or are allowed to use. You are responsible for:

  • having the right to install software on, and run Agents on, every computer you connect;
  • the Agents you install, the accounts and subscriptions you use with them, and complying with each Agent provider's terms;
  • the permission mode you choose for each session. "Full access" skips the Agent's own safety prompts and, where it has one, its sandbox. You accept the risk of that choice;
  • everything an Agent does on your computer, including changes to files, commands it runs, network requests it makes and code it commits, whether you approved each step or allowed the Agent to proceed on its own;
  • backing up your files and repositories;
  • the content of every message, note, attachment and file you send through the Service.

We do not review, test or guarantee any Agent's output. Agent output can be wrong, insecure or harmful. Review it before you rely on it.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else break the law;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
  • run Agents against computers, repositories or data you are not authorized to use;
  • send malware, carry out attacks, scan or probe systems you do not own, or bypass security controls, including the Service's own;
  • harass, threaten or defraud anyone;
  • resell the Service, offer it as part of your own service, or let others use your account, unless we agree in writing;
  • reverse engineer the hosted Service, scrape it, or place an unreasonable load on it;
  • evade a limit, a suspension or a termination, for example by opening another account.

Previews

A preview is a public web address that forwards to a development server running on your computer. While a preview is open, anyone who holds a current link can reach that server. You alone decide what runs behind a preview and who gets the link.

You may not use previews to publish illegal content, content that infringes others' rights, malware, phishing pages, or anything that harms the people who open the link. You may not use a preview as general web hosting or to serve the public at scale; previews are for showing work in progress.

We may close, block or refuse any preview at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it breaks these terms, harms others, harms the Service, or draws a legal complaint. Previews close on their own four hours after they open.

6. Plans, prices and payment

Current plans are described on our pricing page and in the docs. In summary:

  • Free: no charge, 1 connected computer, 1 preview open at a time.
  • Pro: USD 60 per year, or USD 7 per month, up to 5 connected computers and unlimited previews.

We may change which features and limits each plan includes, as described in section 9.

Payments are processed by Stripe. When you buy Pro, you give your payment details to Stripe, not to us, and Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to that payment. We never see your full card number.

Auto-renewal. Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period (yearly or monthly, as you chose) until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize Stripe, on our behalf, to charge your payment method at each renewal at the then-current price.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from the Plan page in the app, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewals. Your Pro features stay on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your account then moves to Free. If you have more computers connected than Free allows, running sessions keep running, but new sessions cannot start until you remove computers or upgrade again.

Price changes. We may change prices. A price change applies to you only at your next renewal after we have given you at least 30 days' notice by email. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before the renewal.

Taxes. Prices do not include taxes. You are responsible for any sales tax, VAT, GST or similar tax due on your purchase.

Refunds. If you ask within 14 days of any charge, including a renewal, we refund that charge in full. Email support@commandchain.ai from the address on your account. We do not give refunds for a charge more than 14 days old. Where the law of your country gives you a longer or different right, that right applies.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it still fails, your account moves to Free at the end of the paid period.

Unlimited and complimentary accounts. We may give some accounts no limits or a free Pro plan at our discretion. We may end that at any time.

7. Your content and ours

Your content. You own what you create: your code, your messages to Agents, your notes, your attachments, your session names, and the output your Agents produce for you, to the extent anyone can own it. We claim no ownership of any of it.

The license we need. To run the Service we have to store, copy, transmit and display your content on your devices and on our servers. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to do those things, only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for you. The license ends when the content is deleted from the Service, except for copies in backups, which are deleted on our normal backup schedule.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

What we store. Our hosted servers store a copy of each session's conversation (your messages and the Agent's replies, questions, approvals and artifacts), together with your notes, machine and device records, and account details. The Privacy Notice describes this in detail, including how long we keep it.

Our content. The Service, including its software, design, documentation, name and logos, belongs to StackJive or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to install the CommandChain app on computers you control and to use the Service under these terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute or sell the Service, or remove our notices.

Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

8. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties, including the Agent providers, Stripe for payments, and the hosting and email providers listed in the Privacy Notice. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, their terms or what they do with data you give them directly.

9. Changes to the Service, betas and availability

The Service is new and changes often. We may add, change or remove features, supported Agents, limits and plans. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel for a refund of any prepaid, unused period.

Features we label beta, preview, early access or similar may not work, may change without notice and may be withdrawn.

We try to keep the Service available but we do not promise any uptime, and there is no service level agreement. The Service depends on your computer being on and connected, on the Agents and their providers, and on networks and hosting we do not control. We may take the Service down for maintenance.

10. Ending your account

By you. You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, use the Delete account button in the app , or email support@commandchain.ai from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days. Deleting your account cancels any Pro subscription.

By us. We may suspend or end your access, with notice where reasonable, if you break these terms, if we must by law, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if you have not paid. We may also end the Service as a whole on at least 30 days' notice, in which case we refund any prepaid, unused period.

What happens. When your account ends, your right to use the Service ends, and we delete your account data on the schedule in the Privacy Notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as payment obligations, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity and disputes) survive.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.

We make no promises about any Agent or its output. We make no promise that a preview link will stay private: anyone who holds a current link can open it.

Some places do not allow some of these exclusions. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • StackJive is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business, arising from or related to the Service, even if we were told it was possible;
  • StackJive is not liable for anything an Agent does on your computer or elsewhere, for the content of your previews, or for third-party services;
  • StackJive's total liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in those 12 months and USD 100.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or willful misconduct where the law does not allow those to be limited.

13. Indemnity

If you are a business user, you agree to defend and indemnify StackJive and its members, officers and contractors against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your previews, what your Agents do, your breach of these terms, or your breach of a third party's rights or an Agent provider's terms. Consumers are liable to us only as the law of their home country provides.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or the Service, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue. There is no arbitration clause: either side may bring a claim in court.

Consumers in the European Union, the United Kingdom and some other countries keep the protection of their local law and courts regardless of this section.

Before starting any formal dispute, each side agrees to email the other a description of the problem and try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. For material changes we will email the address on your account at least 30 days before they take effect, and we will update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, cancel before they take effect, and we will refund any prepaid, unused period if the change is to your detriment. Non-material changes, such as clarifications and typo fixes, may take effect when posted.

16. General

  • Export and sanctions. You may not use the Service if you are in a country or on a list subject to US sanctions, and you must comply with export laws.
  • Notices. We send notices to the email address on your account. You send notices to us at support@commandchain.ai.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer these terms. We may transfer them in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with notice to you.
  • Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Notice are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any earlier agreement.
  • Severability. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
